Using a Downward Dog to Stand Up on a SUP

An easier way to stand up is to do a downward dog (yoga) pose then walk your feet forward into a squat in the center of the board. Make sure both feet are parallel and facing forward. Before standing make sure you have a solid comfortable stance, then stand placing the paddle in the water for additional stability like an outrigger. In bumpy water, take a few short quick strokes to more stability.
