Race to Alaska - SBP Instructor doing the Race to Alaska in 2017!

We knew Luke Burritt was hardcore when he told us he mentioned that he lives in his VW van 'George.' A classic dirtbag climber, Luke winters in Texas where he works as a climbing guide. Then moves to Seattle in summer where he's a sail rigger specializing in carbon fiber masts. There's a rumor he was lead rigger to the New Zealand sailing team at one time.

Luke started attending our summer races in 2015, then in 2016 he got PSUPA certified and began teaching for us. Later that summer, he admitted he had interest in paddling a SUP to Alaska for the 3rd annual Race to Alaska. A 750 mile juant, the self supported human powered race starts in Port Townsend, WA and works it way through massive tidal rapids, open seas and high wind 750 miles to Ketchikan, AK.  Some say the first day 40 miles across the Strait of Juan de Fuca to Victoria BC is the hardest part.

Luke's buddy Erdo will be joining him with custom 17' boards from Blue Shed, a shaper near Hood River, OR.  Continue to watch our posts as we update his progress in building and testing the boards and preparing for this epic race.
