Race to Alaska - First 2 Days for Team Fueled on Stoke

Thursday was the first day for the 2017 Race to Alaska starting at 5am. Half the teams shot across the Strait of Juan de Fuca, with 3 sup teams making the 40 miles to Victoria BC in 7.5hrs in relatively good conditions.

A 30 kt Westerly gale was predicted and did blow in the afternoon. So some teams got off the starting line then camped at nearby beaches for a go at it Friday morning.

As of 11:02 am Friday, Team Fueled on Stoke was had crossed the Strait and was entering Victoria Harbor paddling in light winds. A smart move to now blow their energy on the first leg, saving for the long haul. Real Time Tracker

I'm in touch with Luke via his sat text phone and will report their progress north over coming days/weeks.
