Freshwater Bay Tour on the Olympic Peninsula

Easily one of my favorite paddles, Freshwater Bay is 25 minutes west of Port Angeles on the Strait of Juan de Fuca.  Launching from the boat ramp on the west end of the bay gives us two options. One is to explore the bay itself and it's mile long kelp beds and empty beaches.  Or turn west around Observatory Point into a six mile section of vertical cliffs and super protected pocket beaches.  The geology towering above your head is pretty amazing and the marine life is rich in harbor seals, candle fish, octopus, sea stars and rich green eel grass just under foot.

The Freshwater Bay tour is available all year and is also a great trip for those wanting to learn how to paddle in outer coastal conditions.  See our site for more info, www.salmonbaypaddle.com
