PSUPA SUP Instructor Certification

We offer SUP Instructor Certification through the Professional Stand Up Paddle Association (PSUPA). This program is beneficial for both independent SUP instructors as well as recreational business owners who offer SUP instruction and rentals.
PSUPA Flatwater Level 1 SUP Instructor Certification – This course covers the skills needed to teach both a 1- and 2-hour basic SUP class confidently and safely. The curriculum includes the PSUPA Water Safety Course and covers the basics of how to start a SUP business, but is also adaptable to clients specialized needs.  Certification is awarded upon completing the course, passing all tests, and achieving a satisfactory evaluation.
Certified students receive a PSUPA Instructor’s Manual with relevant resources.  More details on the PSUPA website.
Class Size: 1 – 6 People
Duration: 2-3 Days
Option available to schedule two non-consecutive dates if both dates are scheduled within a month’s time.
Location:  We hold classes at various locations throughout the year, noted in our calendar.  And, Rob Casey, our Instructor Trainer, who has certified instructors throughout the Pacific Northwest, is available to travel to your location.

  • Know basic SUP paddling techniques and directional control. This is not a course for beginners.
  • Have current hands-on (i.e., not Internet-based) First Aid/CPR certification – or – Wilderness First Aid or Lifeguard Training certification.
  • Be in good physical shape, and able to swim 200 yards and to lift and carry all equipment.
